ARK, the

In the Bible, the Ark refers to two distinct object:

  1. Noah's Ark, which is the huge boat that God ordered Noah to build before the flood. The Ark was used by God to preserve Noah's family and animals.
  2. Ark of the Covenant, which is a sacred box that God commanded Moses to build and place in the Tabernacle, and was later transfered to the Temple in Jerusalem. This ark is probably lost when Israel was conquered during the Exile.
