SWORD

The regular use of the sword in Islam can be seen in any biography of Muhammad and in the history of the establishment of the Islamic empire. Consult, e.g., Sir William Muir's detailed biography, The Life of Mahomet, his history of Islam, The Caliphate - Its Rise, Decline and Fall, and the specific section on Muhammad and his personal enemies.

Some Muslim apologists like to point to two passages in the Gospels, Mt. 10:34 and Luke 22:36, in which Jesus speaks of swords, claiming that there is not that much of a difference between Jesus and Muhammad, after all. For a detailed study of these passages, see the articles:

Muhammad was so fond of his swords, he gave them nick names, cf. Top ten reasons why Islam is not a religion of peace.
