Prophesies by Jesus, Daniel and David (Psalms) |
Isaiah 53 (750 B.C.) |
The Gospel |
“We are going up to Jerusalem”, he said [to the twelve], “and the Son of Man will be
betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death
and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him
and kill him. Three days later he will arise.” (Mark 10:33-34)
|
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth...
(verse 7). |
Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going
to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?”
But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
|
In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like the son of man
coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days (God) and was
lead into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power;
all peoples, nations and men of every language worshipped him His dominion is an
everlasting dominion that will not pass away.
(Daniel 7:13-14a, 600 B.C.)
|
|
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
“I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the son of man sitting at the right
hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
|
|
By oppression and judgement, he was
taken away... though he had done no violence nor was any deceit in his mouth
(verses 8a-9b). |
The high priest tore his clothes, “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he
asked. “You've heard the blasphemy.”
They all condemned him as worthy of death.
Then some began to spit at him...and the guards took him and beat him.
(Mark 14:60-65). |
Why do the nations rage, and the people plot
in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers gather together
against the Lord and his Anointed One (Messiah) (Psalm 2:1-2, 1000 B.C.). |
|
Then the whole assembly rose and led him off
to Pilate. And when (Pilate) learned that he belonged to (King) Kerod's jurisdiction,
he sent him over to Herod... And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt
and mocked him, then... he sent him back to Pilate (Caesar's governor)
(Luke 23:1, 7a,11). |
|
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows (verse 3) |
They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha...
Then they offered him wine mixed with (bitter) myrrh, but he did not take it.
|
They have pierced my hands and my feet,
(Psalm 22:17-18 1000 B.C.). |
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities (verse 5) |
And they crucified him, |
They divide my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing (Psalm 22:18, 1000 B.C). |
|
Dividing up his clothes,
they cast lots to see what each would get
(Mark 15.22-24). |
But I am a worm and not a man,
scorned by men and despised by the people. All who see me mock me.
They hurl insults, shaking their heads.
(Psalm 22:7-8, 1000 B.C.). |
He poured out his life unto death,
and he was numbered with the transgressors (verse 12). |
They crucified two robbers with him,
one on his right and one on his left.
Those who passed by hurled insults at him,
shaking their heads and saying,
“So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,
come down from the cross and save yourself.” |
He trusts in the LORD. Let the LORD rescue
him. Let him deliver him, since He delights in him.
(Psalm 22:8, 1000 B.C.). |
|
In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him
among themselves. “He saved others”, they said, “but he can't save himself!
Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may
see and believe.”
Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
|
My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?
(Psalm 22:1, 1000 B.C. ). |
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him
and cause him to suffer... (verse l0a). |
At the sixth hour (noon) darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour
(3 p.m.) And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice,
“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthaani?”--which means “My God, my God, why have
you forsaken me?”
When some of those standing near heard this, they said,
“Listen, he's calling Elijah...” (Mark 15:27-35). |
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint... My strength
is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.
(Psalm 22:14a-15, 1000 B.C.). |
|
Jesus said “I am thirsty”
(John 19:28).
|
And (they) gave me vinegar for my thirst
(Psalm 69:21, 1000 B.C.). |
|
One man ran, filled a sponge with wine
vinegar, and put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink... |
You (God) lay me in the dust of death.
(Psalm 22:15b, 1000 B.C.) |
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the trannsgression of my people he was striken.
For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
(verses 8b and 12b). |
With a loud
cry, Jesus gave up the spirit,
The curtain
of the temple (the entrance to the most Holy place) was torn in two from
top to bottom (Mark 15:36-38). |
|
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death... (verse 9a). |
Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent
member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went
boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. Pilate was surprised to hear that
he was already dead... When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave
the body to Joseph. So Joseph... took down the body, wrapped it in the linen,
and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against
the entrance of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus
saw where he was laid. (Mark 15:43-47). |

PROPHESIES OF |
JESUS' RESURECTION |
AND THEIR FULFILLMENT |
|
And though the LORD makes
his life a guilt offering |
For what I received I passed on to you...
that Christ died for our sins... that he was burried, that he was raised
the thrid day according to the scriptures, and |
I will declare Your name to
my brothers. In the congregation I will praise You.
(Psalm 22:22, 1000 B.C) |
he will see his offspring and prolong
his days (verse 10). |
(1) that he
appeared to Peter,
(2) and then
tot he Twelve.
(3)
After that he appeared to more than 500 of the brothers at the same time,
most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
(4)
Then he appeared to James,
(5) then
to all the apostles. (1 Corinthians 15:3-7.)
