PREDESTINATION
- bests deeds are those done regularly, not overtaxed,
* Narrated 'Aisha:
Once the Prophet came while a woman was sitting with me. He said,
"Who is she?" I replied, "She is so and so," and told him about
her (excessive) praying. He said disapprovingly, "Do (good) deeds
which is within your capacity (without being overtaxed) as Allah
does not get tired (of giving rewards) but (surely) you will get
tired and the best deed (act of Worship) in the sight of Allah is
that which is done regularly."
(Sahih Bukhari 1.41,
Sahih Bukhari 2.232)
- forty virtous deeds, but seems like they count them,
Sahih Bukhari 3.800
- in order of goodness,
* Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle was asked, "What is the best deed?" He replied,
"To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad). The questioner
then asked, "What is the next (in goodness)? He replied, "To
participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah's Cause."
The questioner again asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?"
He replied, "To perform Hajj (Pilgrim age to Mecca) 'Mubrur,
(which is accepted by Allah and is performed with the intention
of seeking Allah's pleasure only and not to show off and without
committing a sin and in accordance with the traditions of the
Prophet)."
(Sahih Bukhari 1.25,
Sahih Bukhari 1.51,
Sahih Bukhari 2.594)
- none better than done on first 10 days of Dhul Hijja,
* Narrated Ibn Abbas:
The Prophet said, "No good deeds done on other days are superior
to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja)." Then some
companions of the Prophet said, "Not even Jihad?" He replied,
"Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting
himself and his property in danger (for Allah's sake) and does
not return with any of those things."
(Sahih Bukhari 2.86)
- not to display it before men,
* ``[Jesus said:] Be careful not to do your 'acts of
righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you
will have no reward from your Father in heaven.''
(Matthew 6:1)
